Meet our team of psychologists:

Dr. Kenneth Carlson

Kenneth Carlson

Dr. Carlson’s education includes degrees from the College of Marin in Marin, CA and California State University of San Jose in San Jose, CA. Advanced degrees were achieved first at California State University of San Jose, a Master’s Degree with an emphasis in psychopharmacology, and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Dakota, with a emphasis on personality and medical issues. Internship years were at University of California, Los Angeles, at the Neuropsychiatric Institute with a special interest in consultation liaison psychiatry (behavioral medicine).  

At present, Dr. Carlson’s practice is limited to adults and older adolescents (17 and above). Interests include general practice of psychology (depression, anxiety, stress). Special interest in dealing with victims of trauma, medical issues and their psychological effect, eating disorders, chronic pain, oncology and palliative care.

Other passions have him focus on teaching duties at the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and lecturing on various topics to physicians, nurses and other medical care professionals. Current research and workshop interest focus on the topic of compassion fatigue.   

Brenda King  

Brenda King

Dr. King graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Prior to becoming a psychologist she worked as an RN. She is licensed as a clinical psychologist in North Dakota and Minnesota. She provides assessment and individual psychotherapy services to individuals from childhood through adult years. Her training is in both CBT and psychodynamic therapy. She has training and experience with hypnosis and EMDR. Areas of interest include treatment of anxiety, mood disorder, trauma, behavior health and eating disorders.  

Leland Lipp  

Leland Lipp

Dr. Lipp attended high school in Rolla, North Dakota, graduating in 1960. He then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. After graduating there in 1964, he attended the University of North Dakota, receiving his Ph.D. in 1969. Dr. Lipp worked for about 13 years at the University of North Dakota Medical Center Rehabilitation Hospital where he helped originate the Child Evaluation and Treatment Program. He then started one of the first psychology private practices in North Dakota in 1981 where he has been practicing ever since. His practice has been in general psychology with particular interest in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. He has enjoyed being involved in many community, state and national organizations.  

Dr. David Lommen

David Lommen

Dr. Dave Lommen, clinical psychologist, received his Ph.D. in 1989 and has worked at Lipp, Carlson, Lommen & Witucki, Ltd. since that time. He works with all ages and provides assessment and therapy for various problems, including depression, anxiety, ADHD and adjustment issues.

Dr. Lommen has worked as a consultant for special education for 23 years. He has also done clinical consultation since 1996 at Grafton Family Clinic in Grafton, North Dakota. His outreach in Grafton is two days per month.

 

Dr. Alison Tait

Alison Tait

Alison Tait, Ph.D. has practiced psychology in Grand Forks for 18 years. She attended the University of Kansas for her undergraduate degree in psychology and Florida State University for her PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in children. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Child Psychology at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine Wichita. Dr. Tait sees children, adolescents and young adults ages 2 – 25 for individual therapy, family therapy and parent training. She is available to do psychological testing and assessment to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning for difficulties such as ADHD and mood disorders.

Dr. Tait sees patients at our main office (2808 17th Ave S) and at our satellite office at Altru Clinic Family Medicine Center.

 

Dr. Marty Witucki

Marty Witucki

Dr. Marty Witucki has been practicing psychology in Grand Forks since 1994.  

He provides psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. Services include evaluations and therapy for individuals and families. Areas of treatment include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, parenting issues and adjustment disorders. Dr. Witucki consults with Pembina County and Upper Valley Special Education providing psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. He also provides mental health consultation for Grand Forks Head Start.

Dr. Jonathan Whalen

Jonathan Whalen

Jonathan Whalen, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist, working with adults and adolescents ages 13 and up. His treatment areas include depression, anxiety, ADHD evaluation, stress, PTSD, couples therapy, hypnosis, pain management, family issues, abuse issues, and bereavement. He also provides Psychological Testing of Adults and adolescents 13 and up.

Dr. Whalen works out of two locations: 2808 17th Avenue South, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and the Altru Family Medicine Center.
 

 

Dr. Holly Dannewitz 

Holly Dannewitz

Dr. Dannewitz graduated with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota.  She is a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy for adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief, women’s issues, stress management, behavioral medicine, divorce and other adjustment concerns. She also conducts psychological evaluations for individuals of all ages to determine learning disabilities, ADHD or other mental health concerns.
